Safety issues in dismantling abandoned cold storage facilities
On March 27, 2023, a major fire accident occurred during the demolition of an abandoned cold storage in Cang County, Hebei Province, resulting in 11 deaths, 1 injury, and direct economic losses of approximately 13.23 million yuan. After investigation, it was found that during the dismantling of the abandoned cold storage, the on-site operators used gas welding to cut the metal shelves inside the warehouse, and the gas cutting flame ignited the insulation materials on the walls inside the warehouse, causing a fire. The fire in abandoned cold storage is not a new topic, but in our impression, such incidents often only occur in movies or TV dramas. However, this serious fire reminds us that we must remain vigilant at all times to avoid similar incidents from happening.
