The refrigeration compressor is the core component of the refrigeration system. It compresses the refrigerant gas to increase its temperature and pressure, and then achieves the refrigeration effect through the processes of condensation, throttling and evaporation. The performance of the refrigeration compressor directly affects the energy efficiency, reliability and service life of the entire refrigeration system. According to structure and working principle, common refrigeration compressors can be classified into the following types.
- The working principle of a piston refrigeration compressor: A piston refrigeration compressor uses a crankshaft connecting rod mechanism to drive the piston to reciprocate in the cylinder, completing the processes of suction, compression and exhaust within the cylinder. When the piston moves downward, the intake valve opens and the refrigerant gas enters the cylinder; when the piston moves upward, the intake valve closes and the gas is compressed. The high-temperature and high-pressure gas after compression enters the condenser through the exhaust valve.

- Rotor type refrigeration compressor working principle: rotor type compressor through the rotating rotor in the stator for eccentric rotation, so as to compress the refrigerant. There are two main types of sliding vane and rolling rotor type. Sliding vane compressor using the sliding vane in the rotor groove, the formation of a number of compression chamber, to complete the compression process; rolling rotor type is through the eccentric rotor and stator between the tiny gap gradually compressed gas.

- Scroll type refrigeration compressor working principle: scroll compressor using a pair of intermeshing scroll disk (one fixed, one rotating) to compress the gas. The rotating scroll discs make a trajectory movement on the track, so that the refrigerant is gradually compressed from the outside to the center, and finally into the high-pressure exhaust port.

- Screw refrigeration compressor working principle: screw refrigeration compressor mainly rely on a pair of intermeshing rotor (usually a male rotor and a female rotor) rotary movement to realize the compression of refrigerant gas. Its working principle is based on volume change, through the rotation of the rotor, so that the refrigerant in the closed space consisting of the rotor, the body and the end cover undergoes cyclical volume changes, so as to complete the process of inhalation, compression and discharge.

Its working principle is mainly based on the principle of momentum exchange in fluid dynamics, that is, through the high-speed rotation of the impeller on the refrigerant gas into the kinetic energy, so that its pressure and speed increase, and then in the diffuser will be part of the kinetic energy converted into pressure, and ultimately the output of high-pressure, high-temperature refrigerant gas, suitable for large refrigeration capacity applications.

- Working principle of magnetic levitation refrigeration compressor: The magnetic levitation bearing system consists of four parts: rotor, sensor, controller and actuator, where the actuator includes two parts: electromagnet and power amplifier. In magnetic levitation refrigeration compressor, the permanent magnet synchronous motor drives the rotor to rotate, while the rotor is suspended inside the stator through the magnetic field, avoiding any physical contact.
